Benefits of High Performance
PostPath has created the PostPath Server, a commercially-supported Linux-based email and collaboration server that is the only plug-compatible drop-in alternative to Microsoft Exchange.
A key element of PostPath's approach is to enable lean infrastructure. Part of enabling a lean infrastructure is to create a high performance core software architecture that avoids the need for expensive hardware and systems that might compensate for a less efficient software approach while it also enables server consolidation where applicable.
A streamlined high-performance email architecture offers several important benefits:
- Enables use of modestly priced server hardware
- Enables server consolidation, reducing server and OS maintenance
- Allows lower cost storage
- Combined with easy backup and restore, allows higher capacity storage (more space for user data)
- High capacity low-cost storage enables enterprises to reduce or eliminate the use of PST files if desired (PST file storage is effectively displaced by server-side storage), easing data management issues
- Increases reliability - high performance comes from simplicity, and from a clear understanding of system operation, both of which are prerequisites when designing for reliability
