PostPath has created the PostPath Server, a commercially-supported Linux-based email and collaboration server that is the only plug-compatible drop-in alternative to Microsoft Exchange.

The PostPath Server delivers much higher performance than the Exchange systems it is designed to replace, typically five-times or more higher throughput using like-for-like server and storage hardware.

Increased performance is an important part of building a lean infrastructure, in that it allows server consolidation as well as the use of modestly priced server hardware and low cost, high density, high capacity storage subsystems.

Higher capacity storage can additionally be used to enable increased user mailbox size, creating the opportunity for users to cease using PST files for filing email data and instead to keep all their data on the server, where IT can apply backup and data management policies much more easily.
