PostPath and Intel Performance

Benefits of High Performance

As is demonstrated by the benchmarks below, the PostPath Server performs up to 100 times faster than Exchange in like-for-like testing.

The PostPath Server's high throughput and low latency deliver multiple benefits:

PostPath and Intel

intel_software_partner:

PostPath is an Intel partner, and the PostPath Server produces excellent performance across a broad range of Intel-processor-based server platforms.

As Steven Santamaria, Director Global Software Enabling, Intel Software and Solutions Group, commented: "Intel works with innovative software companies like PostPath to ensure software runs great on Intel processor-based hardware."

Performance Benchmarks

The PostPath Server was tested using the LoadSIM benchmark on Intel-Xeon-based servers, confirming the efficiency of the PostPath Server running on an Intel architecture.

Large-scale Soak Test

In this test, LoadSIM clients ran against a dual Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5355-based Server platform. For storage, the server's factory-fitted cost-effective high density serial-ATA disk subsystem was used. The LoadSIM tested was carried out against PostPath, and then against Exchange (identical hardware and configuration in the two cases).

Dual Quad-Core Xeon/x5355
50th Percentile Latency 95th Percentile Latency
PostPath 0.04s 0.42s
Exchange 4.30s 21.25s

Note on interpreting LoadSIM results: The 50th percentile results shows the time taken to process a typical client request. PostPath Server is 100 times faster than Exchange at the 50th percentile in this test. The 95 percentile shows the length of time taken for an especially demanding client request. The PostPath Server is 50 times faster than Exchange at the 95th percentile in this test.

Smaller Scale (500 User) Test

In this test, LoadSIM clients ran against a dual Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5150-based Server platform. For storage, the server's factory-fitted cost-effective serial-SCSI disk subsystem was used. The LoadSIM test was carried out against the PostPath Server for an 8 hour period.

Dual Dual-Core Xeon/x5150
50th Percentile Latency 95th Percentile Latency
PostPath 0.02s 0.07s

Typical recommendations for latency are no more than 0.20s for the 50th percentile, and no more than 0.60s for the 95th percentile. As per these results, PostPath's Server software, running on a typical mid-sized company Xeon-based server, delivers exceptional performance.
